Welcome to Bowman Museum
The museum opens each
season with a new display.
At the left Museum Director
Gordon Gillespie is shown
next to one of the displays.
On the first floor you'll
enter our Hall of
History, which presents
a chronological walk
through Crook County's
past. Here you'll see the
bank's original teller's
cages complete with
beautiful marble
counters and you'll
marvel at the elegant
woodwork, all from the
days of when Bowman
Museum's building
served as a prestigious
local bank. In fact, the
old safe still guards
many old ledgers and
other records.
The display cases, as well as many of the display items, have been donated by local pioneer families and relate to the history and lifestyles of the early community.

From ranching to logging, from day-to-day life to the community at play, a walk through Bowman Museum will reveal a real sense of
Crook County's past.
On the second floor, display rooms include the "dining room" with related revolving displays. Also, there is
a tack room, an old-time bedroom, a re-creation of the old Paulina store and post office. There's also one
entire room dedicated to our old-time doctors and dentists.
Our research library is also located on the second floor. History buffs of all levels of expertise can visit
our research library and find answers to your questions with the help of staff. Or, we will do your research
by mail for a small fee. For more information see our Genealogical Society page.

Check out our new digital
exhibit which is a
supplement to the
expansion of the physical
space. It presents some of
the family heirlooms -
photos, video clips, and
stories of the local timber
industry - that have been
generously shared with the
museum.
